Birchbury Founder
Matthew Tran
Matthew Tran is the Founder and CEO of Birchbury, a direct-to-consumer footwear brand he launched in 2019 after designing a solution to a problem he couldn't find anywhere on the market: a wide toe box, zero-drop leather dress shoe that looked like a normal shoe.
Matthew holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Cum Laude) from California State University, Long Beach, and a B.S. in Psychology from UC Irvine.
He applied his engineering background directly to Birchbury's shoe design, developing a product built around natural foot movement and long-term foot health.
Before founding Birchbury, Matthew spent six years building Engineered Truth, a YouTube channel he grew from zero to over 300,000 subscribers, where he developed hands-on expertise in content strategy, audience growth, and lean product validation through pre-sales.
Since its 2019 launch, Birchbury has fulfilled more than 85,000 orders. The brand's shoes are used by customers managing conditions including Morton's Neuroma, Plantar Fasciitis, bunions, and hammertoes.
Matthew is available to journalists covering minimalist and barefoot footwear, DTC e-commerce, bootstrapped brand building, and foot health from an engineering and consumer perspective.
